Placing objects
place_text
Place a free-text annotation on the sheet.
Usage
place_text <X> <Y> [Text…]Angle brackets mark required arguments and square brackets optional ones. Available in the schematic editor. You can issue this yourself, and the AI agent issues the identical command — there is no second, hidden interface.
Arguments
XYText2 required, 1 optional.
Behaviour
X and Y are in MILLIMETRES, like move and place_symbol — NOT grid units. place_net_label is the one verb that takes grid units and this deliberately does not copy it. The coordinates come first because the text is variadic and absorbs everything after them. The text is annotation only: it has no electrical meaning, joins no net and is ignored by ERC and by the netlist. Use place_net_label to name a net. An empty string is rejected.
How the agent uses it
- The agent works in a perceive / act / verify / recover loop: it describes the design, issues
place_textor another command, checks the result, and undoes the change if the check fails. - Commands report what they actually did. A refusal is a result, not a silent no-op — which is what lets the agent recover instead of building on a change that never happened.
- Anything the agent can do here, you can do yourself, and the reverse.
