Placing objects

place_net_label

Place a net label at an absolute position.

Usage

place_net_label <NetName> <X> <Y> [Scope global|local]

Angle brackets mark required arguments and square brackets optional ones. Available in the schematic editor. You can issue this yourself, and the AI agent issues the identical command — there is no second, hidden interface.

Arguments

NetName

X

Y

Scope
Optional · one of global, local

3 required, 1 optional.

Behaviour

X and Y are in GRID UNITS, not mm — they are multiplied by 2.54 before use, unlike every other coordinate in this reference. Append the literal word global for a global label; omitted means a local (sheet-scoped) one. Two pins carrying the same label name are connected without a wire between them. Prefer place_net_label_at_pin whenever the target is a pin.

How the agent uses it

  • The agent works in a perceive / act / verify / recover loop: it describes the design, issues place_net_label or another command, checks the result, and undoes the change if the check fails.
  • Commands report what they actually did. A refusal is a result, not a silent no-op — which is what lets the agent recover instead of building on a change that never happened.
  • Anything the agent can do here, you can do yourself, and the reverse.
