Questions
Is Schema free to download?
Yes. There is a free plan with no time limit. Schematic capture, PCB layout, routing, design-rule checks and Gerber export are unmetered; the AI agent runs on a monthly credit allowance.
Which platforms does Schema run on?
macOS on Apple Silicon, and Windows and Linux on both x86-64 and arm64. Linux is available as a .deb package, an .rpm package and a portable .tar.gz archive.
Do I need KiCad installed?
No, but if KiCad is present its symbol and footprint libraries are usually detected automatically, which saves setting them up. Otherwise you can point Schema at whatever libraries you use.
What are the system requirements?
A Mac with Apple Silicon, or a 64-bit Windows or Linux machine on x86-64 or arm64. The macOS build is for Apple Silicon only. Schema is a native desktop application, so board rendering and routing run locally rather than in a browser.
Bring your existing libraries
Schema reads KiCad and Altium libraries directly, so trying it does not mean rebuilding the parts you have already curated.
