Editing the sheet

set_symbol_flags

Set whether a symbol appears in the BOM and on the board.

Usage

set_symbol_flags <Ref> [in_bom true|false] [on_board true|false]

Angle brackets mark required arguments and square brackets optional ones. Available in the schematic editor. You can issue this yourself, and the AI agent issues the identical command — there is no second, hidden interface.

Arguments

Ref
Required
in_bom
Optional · one of true, false
on_board
Optional · one of true, false

1 required, 2 optional.

Behaviour

in_bom false excludes the part from the bill of materials; on_board false excludes it from the PCB netlist. Both default true. These are independent of set_dnp: a DNP part is still in the BOM (marked do-not-populate) and still on the board, which is why it is a separate flag rather than a synonym. Omitting an argument leaves that flag unchanged.

How the agent uses it

  • The agent works in a perceive / act / verify / recover loop: it describes the design, issues set_symbol_flags or another command, checks the result, and undoes the change if the check fails.
  • Commands report what they actually did. A refusal is a result, not a silent no-op — which is what lets the agent recover instead of building on a change that never happened.
  • Anything the agent can do here, you can do yourself, and the reverse.
